If you have searched for travel information or travel tips for Antofagasta, you might very well end up here. There is very little travel information available on Antofagasta, especially written in English, despite the fact that it attracts many foreign visitors and expat residents because of its strong ties to the mining industry.

Most travel books target tourists visiting the scenic wilderness in the south of Chile and virtually ignore most of northern Chile, and much of the information on expat life in Chile is centered around Santiago. In light of this, I decided to collect all of the knowledge I’ve gathered about visiting Antofagasta on a page in the hopes that it will help you plan a trip or even move to Antofagasta.

Since most tourist information I’ve found about visiting the rapidly-changing environments in much of Latin America is out of date or irrelevant, even from guides written by some of the biggest and best travel book franchises and websites out there, I will also add a few pages with some travel tips that I collect as I visit other parts of Latin America this year.
